How long does the study take?
The study will require at least six hours for actual testing; the time will start when you have fallen asleep. The study may take up to eight hours if you are tested and treated in the same night. You can specify a time you would like to wake up in the morning and we will do our best to ensure we have collected enough data.

Is this covered by my insurance?
Most medical insurance covers 70 – 100% of both the sleep study and the CPAP machine purchase, if deemed necessary for treatment. Actual coverage will depend on your own personal insurance plan. Contacting your insurance after gaining a referral from your primary care physician is one way to evaluate coverage.

What do I need to bring with me and how do I prepare?
On the day of the sleep study, patients are encouraged to:
• Wear pajamas that have a separate top and bottom to accommodate the monitoring sensors.
Wash your hair, shower, and shave before coming in, helping our staff to obtain quality signals throughout the night.
• Do not drink caffeinated beverages or nap after noon on the day of the study.
• Bring a list of medications, including names and doses. If the patient is taking medications at night, they should be taken along to the sleep study.
• Bring items from home that will make you comfortable, such as a book, a favorite pillow, or a blanket.

What if I am unable to fall asleep?
Most people that come in for a sleep study are sleep deprived and have little to no problem falling asleep. Please, do not take your own sleeping medications on the night of your sleep study without prior approval.

What if I have to use the restroom during the study?
ASC professionals will help you to the restroom during your study. You will simply call us through an intercom in your room and we can very quickly un-hook you so that you can move and walk freely. When you are back in your bed, we will reconnect you and resume your test.

How do I begin?
Your provider will fax an order to our attention and we will call you to schedule your appointment. Beforehand, we will call your insurance carrier to verify your coverage and benefits; this information will then be relayed to you in our initial telephone conversation. During our call, we will also ask for some additional information, such as your address, so that we can mail you brochures and a questionnaire. Please try to fill out as much of the questionnaire as you can and bring it with you to your appointment, along with your insurance card.
